We live in a home where the buffalo roam

A bison has been spotted in Cary, nicknamed Billy by the Cary Grove Chat Facebook page. Billy has been running around Cary starting a few days ago. Billy first went missing back in September from a farm in Island Lake. Students have been driving around “buffalo hunting” to find it, but even if you choose not to go this route to see the bison, you still may see it as you nearly miss it with your car as it runs across the road.

Bison were native to Illinois until colonizers killed them all to starve Native American tribes that used them as a food source. Currently, in Illinois, the only wild herd is at Nachusa Grasslands in Will County, and they were reintroduced in 2014. Fermi lab famously also has a herd of 32 bison over 1,000 acres.
