Over the past few weeks, since the FIRST Tech Challenge kickoff started the season for the CG robotics club, the team has made progress on both the robot’s capabilities and their own organization. They’ve also brought in alumni of the team to share their experience and knowledge with the newer members of Code Blue, the CG team’s nickname. 

With the help of old eyes and fresh perspectives, the team is feeling confident with their technical knowledge of how to assemble motors, servo testing, and control hub setup, alongside their building skills with the robot’s frame, wheel placement, and part mounting.

Even veteran members feel the same way with how the team has been performing, while acknowledging their potential for improvement.

“As a mentor for the code blue robotics team this year, I am so proud of all of our new and returning team members and how much we have accomplished this year before our first competition,” senior Danielle Zeliasz said. “I think that all of the members are going to have a great opportunity to explore new possible solutions to our current challenges. Even though we aren’t very experienced this year, I do think that we are going to make it far, and we will be proud of what we have accomplished.”

An alumnus has come back to see what the new faces in the team know and what they need help with, and he sees the same potential that Zeliasz does.

“The team has been doing very well this year,” Julian Ogden, a CG graduate and alumnus of Code Blue. “Every time I’ve come to check in, the robot has improved. It’s been a nice opportunity to help out and teach the next generation of the team and I can’t wait to see what they work towards next.”
