The popular anime Demon Slayer has just released a brand-new movie, Infinity Castle. With over 200 million copies of the manga sold, this movie was highly anticipated, and it must be good if it is to appease the large number of viewers. It did not disappoint. The characters were written and animated perfectly, the story had tons of twists and was packed full of lore, all while keeping the movie action-packed and exciting.
Demon Slayer is known for having better animation than other newer popular animes such as Solo Leveling, and surprisingly Jujutsu Kaisen, which has very good animation. As the last episode of the show was released in mid-2024, the creators had a ton of time to develop animation that would blow everyone out of the water.
The movie was first released in Japan in July before being released around the world on September 12. The opening day for both Japan and the United States was notable, as they both broke records for the most box office earnings in one day for an animated film, with Japan raking in over $11 million and the United States earning over $70 million in just one day. Since then, it has made over $350 million, which is catching up to the first movie this anime has released, Mugen Train, which made over $500 million.
For context, the money that Infinity Castle made on its first day was only $40 million below Avatar, which is the highest-grossing film of all time. Not only that, but Infinity Castle is the sixth-biggest September opening ever.
Demon Slayer starts with Tanjiro, the main character, going off to do some chores. However, when he returns home, he finds almost his whole family dead, except for his sister, Nezuko, who was gravely injured.
His family was killed by demons, who are a great threat to this world. With a hope that he can defend humanity and fight back against the growing number of demons, his journey is difficult, as he must go through hard trials and training, and, most importantly, he can’t give up.
