Sports digest 3/15

This is your CG sports digest for the week of Wednesday, March 15th, 2017.

Girls Soccer

The fresh new season of CG girls soccer kicks off Thursday, when the varsity girls play their first game in the Elk Grove Tournament against Montini. These tournament games will last until the following Thursday. Practice started in late February. As the 2015 season brought huge success for the team, they are looking for similar success this year.

Boys Baseball

This year, all six CG teams are underway with practicing. Freshman A and B both play in Prospect on Tuesday, March 21st. Sophmore A and B play on Saturday, March 18th in Ottawa. JV and Varsity also play that same day in Ottawa.

Track and Field

Both boys and girls track is underway for Varsity and JV. Frosh does not have an event until April 10th, but Varsity and JV both go to UW Whitewater on Saturday the 18th, at 9:45. This event will have the CG teams for both Boys and Girls. It will obviously be indoors.

Girls Softball

The girls open their season Wednesday, March 15th home against Antioch. Go out and support the Trojans as they attempt to start the season of with a W!

Lacrosse

The recent drama behind whether or not “lax” should become IHSA sponsored is still brewing, a board meeting will be held Thursday probably to address that amongst other things. But regardless of what the future for this sport is, we still have a season to play. The team’s website, http://www.cglacrosse.com, features a countdown that displays how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the first game of the season. That game will take place on Wednesday, March 15th. Both JV and Varsity will play at Mundelein HS, at 4.30 and 5.30 respectively. Both teams practice daily after school, working hard so those who deny the IHSA berth can see that they deserve to be sponsored.
